Instruction to the Word of God

Why do we need to hold fast to the Word of God? Because only an encounter with God can transform us and give us purpose and direction like no other.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. The Word was with God in the beginning. All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. And the light shines on in the darkness, but the darkness has not mastered it. - John 1:1-5

The word Bible, is a derivative of the Greek word biblios, which simply means “books.” And that is the way we should understand the Bible, as a library of books that is divided into two parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. In the Bible, which is also called the Sacred Scriptures, God speaks to us through human words. However for those who reject the Word remain in darkness, but those who embrace it are delivered from spiritual darkness and ignorance.

God not only reveals to us divine truth but God’s very self. Through His words we come to know not only the nature and attributes of God, but we also come to understand His plan for each of us. As a believer, the Word of God provides freedom for the mind, strength and resolve for the will, healing for the body, vision for a bright future, and light for the path ahead.

So he humbled you by making you hungry and then feeding you with unfamiliar manna. He did this to teach you that humankind cannot live by bread alone, but also by everything that comes from the Lord’s mouth. – Deuteronomy 8:3

Word of God is your sustenance. You can’t live without it. It is your source of life. “Man shall not live by bread alone”. Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3 to the devil in the midst of his forty-day fast to make the point that spiritual nourishment is incomparably more important than mere physical bread. (Matt 4:4; compare Luke 4:4).

Someone said Christian’s problem today in one word it would be ignorance of the Word of God. But ignoring the Word of God is dangerous. When we stop reading Scripture and applying its principles, we don’t just stand still; we start drifting away from God. Spiritual ignorance is a form of deception – not knowing our position or identity in Christ nor the divine resources that are available in Christ. Likewise, poverty is largely the result of ignorance and not applying the truth. The only area we should be ignorant of is the world’s evil ways (Rom 16:19; 1 Cor 14:20).

Studying the Bible has many benefits. It meets our fundamental needs and practical wants. Studying the Bible helps reinforce the truth that Christ is the center of our faith and that He is the extraordinary revelation of God’s desire to restore humanity to grace. It is an exhilarating experience like no other on earth.

You may be surprised once you dive deep into the Word of God, experience a relationship with God, and realize that it’s the condition of your heart, not your brain, not your muscles, or what you may think about your potential as the child of God.

For though we live as human beings, we do not wage war according to human standards,  for the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds, We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Just like prayer, the most powerful weapon, we believe that for practical purposes it is vital to develop a habit of study the Word of God. It is another one of the weapons of righteousness against the forces of hell. We can’t stop the evil in this world. But, as believers, we have the most powerful weapons at our disposal.

The one who says he is in the light but still hates his fellow Christian is still in the darkness. The one who loves his fellow Christian resides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But the one who hates his fellow Christian is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. - 1 John 2:9-11

The challenge of Christianity is to fellowship with God and one another, demonstrated through obedience to God’s commands and love for believers. It emphasizes the importance of living a life that reflects the teachings of Christ and warns against the dangers of worldliness and false doctrines.

Are you ready to step out into the world, and explore a life full of tremendous challenges in the role of an ordinary citizen, or actively support specific political concerns, and perhaps some of you choose to become frontrunners, to test your private and public life?
